Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst - London

Background:
Bluestone Mortgages (BML) is a dynamic, credit orientated lending business with almost 90 employees and operations out of offices in London and Sheffield. The business is backed by Macquarie Bank, one of Australia’s largest investment banks and majority owned by management. BML is part of a group of businesses which include Fignum (a fintech start-up), BMFI (a motor finance business) and BCF (a consumer finance business).
BML’s strategy is to acquire, originate, fund and manage specialist residential mortgages. Currently the business is expanding strongly, and this has created an exciting opportunity for a FP&A Analyst to join our finance team.
Bluestone primarily serves customers that fall outside mainstream lenders criteria, making it a very interesting segment to serve. Customers are generally self-employed, contract or part-time workers, recent migrants, and those with complex credit or irregular incomes. Loan purpose is a mix of purchase and refinance, and we write traditional, help to buy, and buy to let mortgages.
The role will be based in Bluestone’s modern office in Chancery Lane, London with some travel expected to Sheffield & Cambridge from time to time. A portion of time will be ‘work from home’ if desired.
Job Overview:
The role will be responsible for all budgeting and forecasting activity within Bluestone Mortgages including formal annual budget setting, more frequent re-forecasting during the year and working with the Product Manager to assess new products and loan features.
Core responsibilities
- Manage all of the businesses financial planning and budgeting requirements including the implementation of half yearly reforecasting cycles
- Management, maintenance & development of the budget models
- Development of financial aspects of business plans for a number of new ventures
- Liaise with the Finance team and broader business to develop and understand budgets for annual/half yearly budget process
- Providing insightful analysis and commentary on the performance of the business to budget
- Preparation of financial information for fundraising activities
Skills & Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CFA) or qualified by experience (E)
- Advanced Excel knowledge (including VBA preferred) (E)
- Experience of working with and developing financial models (including loan portfolio models preferred) (E)
- Excellent communication and presentations skills, ability to concisely preset financial information to senior management (E)
- Comfortable working autonomously on projects (E)
- Financial services/lending experience strongly preferred (P)
- Use of BI/reporting tools preferred (looker etc.) (E)
